MonroeWorks is a resource for job seekers and employers with a centralized information hub to help residents, businesses, and the general public learn more about the power of training programs, local organizations, local job opportunities, and build collaboration. We are not here to replace the wonderful services and resources, but to elevate and connect.

MonroeWorks is made possible by the National League of Cities.
The National League of Cities' Good Jobs, Great Cities initiative reflects the idea that strong local economies are built on strong local workforces. Historic federal investments in infrastructure, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act have created a once-in-a-generation opportunity for cities to invest in their communities, but realizing that promise depends on having a skilled and ready workforce to build America's next-generation infrastructure and economy.
To meet that need, 16 cities are working throughout 2023 and 2024 to develop innovative, scalable solutions that upskill and reskill workers into quality, high-demand infrastructure, clean energy, and manufacturing jobs, with particular attention to residents from historically underserved and underrepresented communities. Monroe, NC's selection as one of these Academy cities is significant because it places Monroe among a small, competitive cohort chosen to receive direct engagement with the National League of Cities, the U.S. Department of Labor, and national thought leaders in order to build stronger pipelines — like pre-apprenticeships and expanded Registered Apprenticeship programs — connecting local residents to good jobs.
Being named to this group signals that Monroe is recognized as a city positioned to lead on workforce innovation, giving it access to resources, peer learning, and support that can translate federal investment into real economic opportunity for its residents.
