$300 Million Investment: City of Monroe Annexes ATI Specialty Materials, Expanding Local Operations
The City of Monroe's Mayor and City Council approved the annexation of additional ATI Specialty Materials facilities on April 24, 2026, securing two economic development incentive grants tied to an approximately $300 million investment in Monroe's industrial future.
ATI Specialty Materials has an established presence in Monroe. This annexation brings additional facilities into the City, expanding the company's local footprint and qualifying the new operations for economic development incentives. The projects include construction of new production buildings and installation of new process equipment, with development expected to unfold in multiple phases.
City officials noted the annexation creates a major opportunity to grow Monroe's industrial base, expand the local tax base, support utility growth, and position the City for continued investment in high-quality manufacturing employment and operations.
This effort reflects coordination across the City's Administration, Planning & Development, Energy Services & Water Resources, Engineering, and Economic Development departments.
"The annexation and development of these projects into the City of Monroe demonstrates the value of coordinated planning, infrastructure readiness, and a responsive, full-service city. These economic development projects represent substantial capital investment, expanded industrial operations, and continued momentum for Monroe's economic growth strategy," said City Manager Mark Watson.
"Monroe's utility capabilities are a major advantage in projects of this scale. Our ability to provide reliable electric, water, sewer, and natural gas service helps position the city as a strong partner for advanced manufacturing and other high-demand industrial users," said Rob Miller, Energy Services & Water Resources General Manager.
"ATI Specialty Materials' projects are exactly the kind of opportunities Monroe is prepared for. Our community offers available land, strong utility capacity, regional access, and a local government committed to helping companies succeed. Bringing new industry into Monroe through annexation expands our economic base and reinforces our position as a business-ready city fostering opportunity for our citizens," said Teresa Campo, Economic Development Director.
